Things I’ll miss about Britain no. 2: the chocolate hobnob

Oh, dark chocolate hobnob.  You and I have travelled together from my adolescence (when you were invented, I believe) to my mid-30s.  Together we made friends at university; you have cheered me up in every minor emotional crisis; for a few years recently you disappeared altogether, but we have been happily reunited… only for me to leave you this time.  But I guess that’s probably what you deserved, you unreliable biscuit.

The chocolate hobnob is the perfect biscuit.  Plain chocolate and oats – both luxurious and unpretentious, sugary and sustaining.  It even used to be Vegan, so a Vegan friend told me.  Even the people at Nice Cup of Tea seem inclined to agree that the chocolate hobnob is the acme of biscuit perfection.

American biscuits are rubbish, synthetic and far too sweet.

    You can find Hob Nobs in the states high end groceries will have them. I could only find themilk cocolate – but desperate times…

  2. Thanks Erin! Milk chocolate would do in an emergency, for sure.
